Normal service will resume... uhm... er...
Right. News. Old house sold, new house bought, in transit at the moment in a one-bedroom apartment that we're renting from K's sister F. This means that The Boy shares the room with us which is doing just wonderful things for my ability to sleep. It also means no net access so friends and family may need to keep this in mind - you're best off e-mailing me at work. Plus if people want to give me advice on who we should go with ISP-wise at our next place I'm all ears.
The new place looks great and we're terribly happy with the purchase after a few months of looking, which included the experience of bidding at an auction. There are a few things that need doing around the new house but not too much. It also has a very big shed. This, of course, is A Very Good Thing - later this year you can probably expect to see some project-blogging as a consequence.
I'm busy. Real busy. I am, well, a bit on the exhausted side to be honest. Since early February (Monday the 5th) I've allowed myself one day where I didn't work, study or do house-moving related activities, with this Saturday being the next one until, by the looks of things, Saturday June 9. At which point we'll probably be in the throes of settling into the new place. It's just been constant. And it's done no good at all for my footy-tipping either, let alone getting any energy together to write about it.
I'm in the final stretch of the first chunk of law studies I've been undertaking, having spent last Friday to Sunday doing a three day intensive on the basics of Australian administrative law. Really interesting, to me anyway - I'd say that I was about one of three students who seemed to be able to muster any enthusiasm for the subjects. The lecturer said early on that being an administrative lawyer also involved a degree of proficiency as a political scientist, which further appeals to me. I expect that the remainder of the Masters program I choose will focus in on the admin law subjects.
Oh, and last night I became an uncle for the second time, with my sister J giving birth to Hannah, a beautiful baby girl.
So, consistent with the last month or so, I may not be updating things here for a little while. I've had a number of draft posts started but never realised about the auction experience, the footy, Douglas Adams' last work, not to mention politics, politics and, hey, politics. Actually on the latter topic I've set up a blogspot blog that I'll use for those musings in future, prompted in part by the dearth of writing about it (Australian politics anyway) on Vox and an unwillingness on my part to expose my other writing and family photos to any kind of broader audience through my political observations. Expect a link to the new spot down the track once I'm up and running there.
I'll leave you with a blast from the past, episodes of Crazy Daisy Ed from the tv show Liquid Television, which my friends and I used to religiously watch (along with The Maxx) on Saturday nights before spending the rest of the night playing music and talking shite.
