Meet Friday the bunny. He started hanging out around our place (I think he lives under a shrub in the neighbour's back yard) about a week ago. He joins the menagerie of birds that we've come to know in the year that we've been here, which includes a family of magpies I call The Sopranos, a couple of currawongs known as the Brothers Grimm (whom I've seen trying to work out if they can eat Friday), and a regular group of King Parrots out the back that I like to think of as "The Morning Show".
So why call him Friday? Well, dunno if you remember but Friday is Rabbit Pie Day according to the old song. Victorian Tourism ran a very popular ad a few years ago featuring this song, and were it not for a "music intervention" by a couple of K's friends we may well have walked down the aisle to it. Sort of glad we didn't in the end as the throne room music from the end of Star Wars Episode IV was much better. Anyways, here's the video to remind you and to plant the tune in your head for the next few days:
I'm hoping that there isn't a special level of hell reserved for people who fail to adequately care for the appearance of their cats.
Willow, aka "The Princess", is a pure bred Maine Coon around a year and a half old. Maine Coons are known for their fur, which is thick, lustrous, and very hard to get out of carpets. We've been pretty good with her in the past in making sure that she doesn't get too matted, but a recent stay at the cattery gave her just enough time to get all mussed up again.
Turns out the number of places that do cat grooming is around one. So we booked her in, neglecting, with typical oversight, to actually instruct how we wanted her cleaned up.
So here's the before shot:
And here's how she looked afterwards:
Whole body except for her head, paws, and most of her tail. Like I said, special level of hell here I come.
